Based on data from Section 481, the scheme that gives tax benefits to Irish film investors, the Revenue Commissioners paid out between €82m and €92m in tax cuts for the year 2008.

Central Bank Governor John Hurley said that the Allied Irish Banks and the Bank of Ireland are a crucial part of the state of the country’s finances which is why they cannot be allowed to fail.
At the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance and the Public Service, Hurley sent his unfavorable forecasts of the economy due to anxiety and fear in the financial arena as well as unsuccessful regulatory measures.

Recent figures revealed that the R and D division of Intel based in Shannon increased its profit to almost twice (761 euros or $1M) as of 2007.
THE US-based company’s site in Shannon is the Research and Development arm in Europe of Intel (Digital Enterprise Group).
The company’s turnover skyrocketed 16 percent from $24 million to $28 million based on figures gathered.
